Colbert’s latest ad urges South Carolina voters to pick Cain

In a press release for the ad, produced by super PAC Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, it states the spot “shows support for Stephen Colbert’s possible candidacy by offering voters a way to show support for Stephen Colbert’s possible candidacy.”

Colbert, who wants to be on the primary in South Carolina in light of recent news he drew more support than Jon Huntsman, found he couldn’t be the write-in candidate for this weekend’s primary. But that didn’t stop the determined talk-show host; instead, he formed a super PAC and let his friend and fellow comedian Jon Stewart helm the group. The super PAC can take donations and run ads, as long as Colbert isn’t involved in any coordination.

The most recent ad, also available online, features a montage of Herman Cain images and asks voters to choose Cain in the primary, due to his name still placed on the ballot. Cain suspended his campaign in early December.

The one-minute spot says “A vote for Herman Cain is a vote for America….He’s such a Washington outsider he’s not even running for President.” The ad ends with Colbert gradually smiling, similar to Cain’s own ad.

Colbert’s super PAC previously launched an ad attacking Mitt Romney for murdering corporations, dubbing him a serial killer.
