US Department of Veterans Affairs looks to startup for new wheels

SoftWheel’s ‘Acrobat’ wheel for wheelchairs uses patented technology to customize the wheel’s shocks according to what terrain the chair is on.

According to The Times of Israel, the US Department of Veterans Affairs has approved the manufacturing of 361 wheelchairs outfitted with wheels made by SoftWheel. This is part of a larger three-year-deal to send VA 2,000 sets of Softwheels, each set reportedly costs $2,500. The deal includes wheelchair manufacturer Key Mobility, who produces wheelchairs for VA.

“Softwheels are now available to American Veterans. All you need to do is set up an appointment at your local #VA clinic and ask for #Softwheel,” wrote Daniel Barel, CEO of SoftWheel, on LinkedIn. “Thank you U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to help veterans.”
