‘Guitar Grip’ Peripheral Released for Guitar Hero on Nintendo DS

Guitar Hero: On Tour is coming to the handheld Nintendo DS platform this summer. Mobile gamers can rock out using an innovative peripheral to push the frets, along with a guitar pick-stylus for the touch-screen.

Digital Journal — For those about to rock, Nintendo DS salutes you. Specifically, by allowing you to riff and strum on Guitar Hero with the latest incarnation — Guitar Hero: On Tour will be released this summer for the handheld Nintendo DS device, complete with a Guitar Grip peripheral and a unique pick-stylus.

Activision‘s new game for Nintendo DS follows the tradition of Guitar Hero, where players strum along with classic and new rock tunes. This time, though, gamers can solo on the go with the first handheld version designed just for the DS. Gamers use the pick-stylus to strum the “strings” on the device’s touch-screen while using the Guitar Grip to finger the right notes.

Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Activision/RedOctane, said in a new release: “The Guitar Hero Guitar Grip redefines how games can be played on handheld systems and the integration of the microphone and touch screen gameplay on the DS, further illustrates Guitar Hero’s leadership in delivering the most unique and creative quality hardware and software on the market.”

Guitar Hero: On Tour also allows players to play in co-op mode using a wireless network. To get competitive, Battle Mode introduces features unique to the DS platform, such as the ability to blow into the microphone to extinguish pyrotechnics effects gone wrong, or to use the touch-screen to autograph a fan’s shirt.

This game’s set list will include tracks from artists such as Nirvana, No Doubt and OK Go.

While Activision announced a summer launch date, there is no specific release date or confirmed price.
