Facebook female employee numbers sees big leap

Statistically, less than one third of Facebook’s senior leadership is female. The company is slowly diversifying its employees. In particular, there have been more female workers and “people of color” that are filling the ranks, as it was indicated in Facebook’s annual diversity report.

As of the end of June of 2018, female workers constituted 36 percent of the company’s workforce on a worldwide level, which increased five percent from four years ago. In business and sales positions, women make up 57 percent, and they increased seven percent in the senior leadership level, from 23 percent to 30 percent. The total number of employees for the company is continuing to grow.

There was also reported to be an increase in African American and Latin employees in the United States, by a two percent and one percent increase respectively. It subsequently noted that the percentage of LGBTQ employees also went up by one percent, whereas veterans are equivalent to two percent of the company’s employees in the United States.

In comparison to other tech companies, according to the Technology news website Recode, Facebook’s diversity is average. It indicated that Pinterest had the largest number of female workers, which accounted to 45 percent of its total employment. When it comes to leadership, Lyft is in the leading spot, with 36 percent.

Facebook acknowledged that it has worked to create a diverse working environment, in an effort to help with its retention rates. The company is continuously working to help improve and evolve the make-up of its employees.
