Major League Baseball made the decision to postpone the Game 6 at 2:15 p.m. ET today. Heavy rain continues to hit St. Louis, and “internal forecasts provided by MLB called for precipitation to continue all day, becoming heavy after 4 p.m,” an MLB article states.
The Texas Rangers lead the World Series 3-2 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Tonight’s scheduled pitchers, Jaime Garcia of the Cardinals and Colby Lewis for Texas, are expected to play on Thursday.
Game 7, if necessary, would be pushed back to Friday night at the same time in the same stadium.
Rangers manager Ron Washington supports MLB’s decision, as ESPN reports. “If it’s possible we can play, of course we want to play. You don’t want to sit down,” Washington said before the decision was announced. “But, if the forecast says that it’s going to be bad weather and we’re going to play and start and stop; we have an opportunity to eliminate [the Cardinals] and they have a chance to stay in it.”
