The streak has not happened for the team since the period of Aug. 30 to Sept. 9, 2008, according to CTV News.
The team now has a record of 34-36, still last in their American League East division, but they trail by only a few games the Tampa Bay Rays, who are currently 36-35. They are also currently sitting on the highest winning streak in the MLB, with only three other teams on a two-game winning streak.
The Jays have won 11 of their last 14 games, and they’ve outscored their opponents 73-38 in that time span, reports Global News.
Tuesday’s game had Esmil Rogers as the Jays’ starting pitcher, who pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up three runs and four hits. According to the National Post, Rogers was briefly a staring pitcher for the Rockies, but lacked confidence in his arsenal of pitches.
““I have unbelievable confidence right now,” Rogers told the Post. “I can throw any pitch in any count that I want.”
The Jays’ batters were also on fire Tuesday night, with Maicer Izturis, J.P. Arencibia and Edwin Encarnacion hitting home runs. Encarnacion also drove in a total of three RBIs.
While it was good news for Canada’s only major league baseball team, it was not a good day for the Rockies’ Canadian starting pitcher, Jeff Francis, a Vancouver native, reports the Toronto Star.
Francis gave up six hits in the first inning, followed by two in the fifth and two more in the sixth before he was retired.
