Saskatchewan Roughriders win Grey Cup over Hamilton TiCats 45-23

Running back Kory Sheets tore through Hamilton’s defense, notching 128 yards in the first half alone. He broke Johnny Bright’s mark of 169 set in 1956 by accumulating a whopping 197 yards in a single Grey Cup game.

Riders receiver Chris Getzlaf was named Most Valuable Canadian, with his impressive 78 receiving yards on three catches. Getzlaf was playing in just his second game back from a knee injury suffered on Oct. 26.

“This is just the start,” said Riders QB Durian Durant after the game. “We’ve got a great nucleus and hopefully we can keep this group together or as much of us together and keep this thing rolling.”

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said post-game: “I would like to congratulate the Saskatchewan Roughriders on today’s victory and their remarkable season. On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to thank both teams for their unwavering determination throughout the season and for providing us with such exciting sporting moments today.”
