NBA Rumors: Toronto still looking for help in front court?

Markieff Morris has been unhappy with the front office in Phoenix and that has led to several trade rumors over the last few weeks. Morris didn’t like the way Suns management went about trading his twin brother and the power forward has asked for a trade.

Several teams around the league could use a solid power forward, including Toronto as the Raptors have done little to add depth to the front court over the summer. The team has added some quality defenders over the off season, but a deal for the 26-year-old could make this one of the top squads in the Eastern Conference and a dark horse contender for a championship.

The former first round draft choice has averaged 11.4 points and just over five rebounds in his career, but over the last two years, those numbers have increased to over 14 points and six boards per game.

Morris is solid from the free throw line and his size makes him a force in the paint, despite the fact he doesn’t average many block shots per game. The youngster is solid on both ends of the floor and would give the Raptors some much-needed depth in the paint.

Sources indicate the Suns would receive guard Terrance Ross and a couple draft picks if the deal is made before the NBA regular season begins, but if they wait, Phoenix could get DeMarre Carroll, Cory Joseph, Luis Scola, Bismack Biyombo, or Ronald Roberts added in the mix.

Toronto has a great opportunity to become one of the better teams in the league with this potential deal and the front office would be wise to consider making a trade soon, keeping other teams from acquiring the big man. Morris has indicated he would love to play north of the border and it could create a buzz with the fans heading into the regular season.
