NBA: Toronto Raptors trade Rudy Gay to Sacramento Kings

Gay is being shipped to the Kings along with Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray. Toronto receives a mixture of forwards and guards from the Kings: swingman John Salmons, Patrick Patterson, defensive specialist center Chuck Hayes, and widely-heralded point guard Greivis Vasquez.

Raptors GM Masai Ujiri is hoping to trim over $12.3 million in salary “from his books this summer should he decline to tender the qualifying offer match any offers for Patterson and Vasquez this summer, while waiving Salmons before his salary becomes fully guaranteed,” Yahoo Sports reports.

Gay is averaging 19.4 points per game and is shooting a disappointing 38.8 percent.

Gay and the other Raptors players will not play in tonight’s game versus the Lakers.

The Raptors are expected to make an official announcement about the trade tomorrow morning.
