NBA Rumors: Brandon Jennings to Chicago Bulls?

While the front office has yet to make any signings, rumors and speculation on potential moves are hot news on social media, especially considering the team could have significant depth issues heading into training camp.

With Jose Calderon the likely starter at this point, most experts believe management needs to make a move as the 34-year-old hasn’t exactly brought excitement to the city since his arrival in the Rose deal. The veteran averaged just over seven points and four assists last year with the Knicks and his defensive ability isn’t anywhere close to what this team needs heading into the upcoming season.

Adam Garlewicz has compiled a list of players that could provide some immediate help and just two player remain who could help this squad challenge for the playoffs in 2017 and generate some excitement with the fans.

First is Rajon Rondo from Sacramento, but the 30-year-old is more known for his ability to run an offense then provide a spark offensively. The veteran would be a fan favorite and give the team a couple good years, enough time to find a more long-term solution, but the price would need to fit what this franchise is trying to accomplish, which is having enough room under the salary cap to make a push at a couple big names next summer.

Next and possible the best option is Brandon Jennings. The 26-year-old has struggled the last couple of seasons with on and off court issues, but he’s just three years removed from being considered one of the best young guards in the NBA and has the ability to score, lead an offense, and play hard on both ends of the court.

Chicago won’t be a contender for a title next season, but they can’t just throw away the year. Adding Jennings could become a long-term solution at point guard and his ability to lead this squad could help next summer when they look to become a championship contender.
