PRZen / OTTAWA, Ontario -- Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada will be transformed to be a live chess board on Mother's Day May 12, 2024 at 2pm. Kaleidoscope Sky in collaboration with MP Consolidated Inc. is hosting the first ever Live Chess game at the Historic Location in front of the Peace Tower.
This free and fun performance event is in support of the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, an organization existing to provide services, research and support in the battle against a terrible and far reaching disease.
By May 12th, 2024, 32 participants will gather together dressed up as chess pieces in their best creative attire to celebrate Mother's Day in style from 2 pm until around 5 pm moving around the black and white chess board created specifically for this event. These 32 human chess pieces will be directed by two chess players in what is sure to be an entertaining and memorable experience for all. Each person involved found out about the event via call outs on social media and the website
www.livechessonparliament.com. These 32 pioneers and countless others have submitted a picture and short bio in support of this worthwhile endeavor.
While there will be no advertising or sponsorship on Parliament Hill on May 12, 2024 in keeping with the parliamentary rules for the use of the grounds, the event organizer is actively engaging with partners providing opportunities to show support in other ways and encouraging people to get involved locally with their respective Alzheimer's Society Chapter.
Origins Story:
Event organizer Louise Paul of Kaleidoscope Sky Tattoo and Art House hosts a monthly poetry circle at her 1106 Somerset St W., Ottawa, Ontario location, It was in late hours of a spirited session of sharing poetry with local poets that the idea of having a game of chess on Parliament game into being. The entrepreneur and local artist's partner Matt Paul then applied and was granted a permit to host the event by the special use of parliament committee for May 12, 2024 at 2 pm and the wheels were put in motion on this event. Alzheimer's Society of Canada was notified of the event and expressed their enthusiasm and mutual support as the lead beneficiary of this social production.
We are extremely exhilarated by the opportunity to share an old game in an exciting and interactive way on a historic and significant site.
