High-Profile Movie “20 MINUTES” Hits Select Theaters on October 7, 2022

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 18, 2022 / What if you had twenty minutes to live?

This is the premise of the new, high-profile film from director Tim Chey. The film hits select theaters, staring with Hawaii, on October 7, 2022.

’20 Minutes’ is about an incoming ballistic missile to Hawaii changes the lives of twelve people when they discover they have twenty minutes to live.

It’s partially-based on the true story of the false nuclear missile alert that hit all 1.5 million residents of Hawaii back in 2018. The alert that hit every single cell phone in Hawaii caused massive panic throughout the entire state and the mainland.

In the movie, the missile is real.

As the countdown begins, each scene is in real-time with the clock ticking down from twenty minutes to one minute left.

The characters in the film range from a conservative Republican and a liberal Democrat; to an atheist and a Believer; to a Japanese billionaire and a Native Hawaiian – all seeking refuge as the missile approaches.

“No matter what background or tribe they come from, they all come together in the end,” adds Chey. “Many people have reported crying at the end.”

“It’s a fascinating collection of characters in this incredible film,” says a spokesperson for RiverRain Productions, “and it makes for an incredibly intense film. We’re so proud of Tim and this latest film.”

The film had a sold-out premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. The film’s premiere screening at Cannes was packed and one of the most heavily advertised and anticipated films there.

Chey’s previous film, ‘The Islands’ had a national theater release in December 2019 into over 45 cities nationwide. The film was nominated for ‘Best Picture of the Year’ by one film critics association.

“My wife and I were in Hawaii when the nuclear missile alert came,” says Chey. “Fortunately, I was sleeping!”

The false missile alert caused mass panic in Hawaii with bank managers herding their employees into bank vaults and mothers putting their children inside manhole covers on the streets.

“We really thought this could be it,” said one pastor in Hawaii. “I got on my knees and prayed with my entire family.”

The cellphone message alert was very pronounced: “Ballistic Missile Threat Inbound To Hawaii. Seek Immediate Shelter. This is Not A Drill.”

“It caused a movie idea to pop into my head,” said Chey laughing. “I use to be a former atheist and I knew this missile warning would cause many atheists to think about God.”

Chey is one of the top faith-based producer/ directors in the U.S. having directed and produced over 15 films, including ‘Freedom’ (Cuba Gooding, Jr., Sharon Leal), ‘The Islands’ (Mira Sorvino, John Savage), and ‘Epic Journey’ for Daystar TV that reached 85 million homes worldwide.
