Fairwinds Closes 2021 With Impressive New Customer Acquisition and Open Source Growth Numbers

BOSTON – January 26, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

Fairwinds, the leading provider of Kubernetes governance and security software, ended 2021 with an 8X year-over-year growth in ARR of its Fairwinds Insights software and a significant increase in open source downloads, priming the company for continued expansion in 2022. Fairwinds Insights is the company’s SaaS offering that simplifies Kubernetes chaos and enables developer self-service to achieve production readiness faster.

Over the past 12 months, the company has advanced Fairwinds Insights, making it a single platform to access security monitoring, app right-sizing, cost optimization, policy enforcement, compliance and the enablement of service ownership. This investment helps to satisfy the needs of the Kubernetes community, which wants to do more from a single location. Additionally, as open source users grow their usage and need multi-cluster/multi-team support, Insights is a natural progression from a company that they already know and trust.

“We made great progress in 2021 with Fairwinds Insights and our open source tools and closed out the year with substantial momentum for 2022. We see this as a year to be bold and disruptive and have an innovative product roadmap focused on security, compliance and cost to support that vision,” said Bill Ledingham, CEO of Fairwinds. “Kubernetes and cloud native technologies are growing at a breakneck pace, with some analysts predicting that cloud native platforms will be foundational to 95% of digital programs within the next three years. Fairwinds is in a good place to help organizations succeed as they further embrace cloud native and Kubernetes.”

Fairwinds milestones throughout 2021 include:

  • Issued 25 updates for Fairwinds Insights, creating a single platform that provides DevSecOps teams with governance and guardrails to simplify Kubernetes complexity and reduce risk. Updates included those for Service Ownership, Team Management and SSO/SAML Support and a Multi-Cluster Dashboard, among others.
  • Continued to build market value and credibility with 10 open source software projects, including PolarisGoldilocksPluto and Nova, generating more than 175,000 new downloads in 2021.
  • Launched the Fairwinds Open Source Software (OSS) User Group to further connect with users to build better open source tools for the Kubernetes community.
  • Worked in conjunction with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to launch the CNCF Maturity Model at KubeCon in October 2021.
  • Issued The Kubernetes Configuration Benchmark Report, an evaluation of more than 100,000 Kubernetes workloads within hundreds of organizations using Fairwinds Insights. The report was created to help organizations better understand how their container configurations compare to their peers in the cloud native landscape.

Fairwinds continues to develop its strategic relationships with partners such as Datadog and PagerDuty and product integrations with GitLab and Atlassian, and is expanding its footprint with a reseller program with companies such as AHEAD.
