Hi, what are you looking for?

Dr. Dolores Acevedo-Garcia, Ph.D., MPA-URP and HOPE National Resource Center Leadership to speak at Tufts’ Center for Community-Engaged Medicine 3rd Annual Virtual Summit – Practicing HOPE

Boston, MA: The HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) National Resource Center invites the community to the Third Annual HOPE Summit – Practicing HOPE – a virtual summit on March 29-30, 2023, focusing on the impact positive childhood experiences (PCEs) have and how to implement HOPE practices in organizations, education, medical fields, and social work. Keynote speaker Dr. Dolores Acevedo-Garcia, Ph.D., MPA-URP, will speak on Child Opportunity Index practical applications.

The Practicing Hope virtual summit will host a series of workshops detailing how organizations and individuals implemented HOPE in medical care, social work, education, and community services, the processes and tools involved, and the real-world impact of these changes. The event will offer several networking opportunities across the child and family-serving community with leaders in the field.

Bob Sege, HOPE Director – “Our Third Annual HOPE Summit – Practicing HOPE, reflects the remarkable worldwide interest in the HOPE – Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences framework. We will hear from folks around the world who provide HOPE-informed care, in large groups and small. We look forward to our largest summit ever, welcoming people from all over the world in every field that supports children and families.”

The Keynote speaker will be Dolores Acevedo-Garcia, Ph.D., MPA-URP, Samuel F. and Rose B. Gingold Professor of Human Development and Social Policy, and Director of the Institute for Child, Youth and Family Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Dr. Acevedo-Garcia will be speaking about the Child Opportunity Index. This easy-to-use tool provides detailed information about resources available within each zip code in the United States and has led to scores of studies about the conditions that promote family strengths.

Positive childhood experiences (PCEs) tell the full story of a child or family and hold value. The unique HOPE framework lifts up these PCEs to do more of what is already working for children and families and identifies barriers to accessing these experiences. The HOPE Summit is an interactive way to learn more about the HOPE framework and learn concrete tools to begin implementation. Through their keynote address, diverse workshop sessions, and multiple opportunities for virtual networking this event will help guide the child and family services community to implement HOPE daily.

Registration is open. For more information visit the Practicing HOPE event website https://hopesummit2023.positiveexperience.org/register.

The Summit will take place during their Week of HOPE March 27-31, 2023. Join them on Twitter and Linkedin at HOPETuftsMC for resources, blogs, and family activities shared throughout that week.

HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) National Resource Center identifies ways that the communities and systems of care can better ensure that all children have more positive experiences and that all families have support to nurture and celebrate their strengths. Positive experiences can ease toxic stress and help children and youth grow into more resilient, healthier adults. The Four Building Blocks of HOPE are composed of key positive childhood experiences (PCEs). The sources of those experiences and opportunities are the foundation for healthy childhood development.
