Dan Folger Journeying through Photography, Lifestyle, and a Jewelry Company

All Dan Folger ever wanted to do was travel the world, take pictures, and tell stories. Now, what began as a dream from his parents’ basement has grown exponentially and boasts of a full-blown headquarters of about 20,000 square feet in Miami. This is coming after years of hard work, which has seen him work as Wiz Khalifa’s cameraman and travel the world, curating history and memories along the way. Today, he owns and operates a successful lifestyle brand and a jewelry company with the GLD shop.

Dan Folger is a twenty-seven-year-old photographer and entrepreneur from Pittsburgh. According to him, life comes at you real fast and without warning. Folger admits that his childhood and teenage experiences from growing up in Pittsburgh made him the man he is today. To him, life in Pittsburgh taught him about the seasons, which helped him understand what it feels like to get up to go to work under freezing conditions. Aside from working 7-to-3 jobs under brutal weather conditions, being around the ghetto and the suburbs immensely helped him become a well-rounded person. When asked if he has any regrets about growing up in Pittsburgh, he said, “I don’t regret it or wish I grew up anywhere else.”

Folger owes his photographic influence and inspiration to veteran photographer G Derrick, whom he adored growing up. Seeing Derrick handle all of YMCMB’s photography and video recording sessions at the time created an insatiable desire in Folger to toe the same path and aspire for the same opportunities. His lifelong dream of being in the limelight came to reality when he worked with Wiz Khalifa during the DayToday web series recording. Folger admits that this period left a lot of favorable marks on his career. Some other artists that Folger has worked with include Travis Scott, Diddy, Asap Rocky, G-Eazy, and more.

For Folger, his dreams are never static, and they are ever-changing and dynamic because once he achieved his aim of working as a photographer, especially with Wiz Khalifa and a host of other A-list celebrities, Folger went back to the drawing table and brought to life his vision of owning a lifestyle brand and a jewelry company. Hence, the GLD shop was born. And today, thanks to his work ethic and efforts, the jewelry powerhouse has amassed over 1.1 million followers on Instagram as it continues to work alongside world-renowned music artists, Hollywood celebrities, and other famous personalities.

The GLD Shop specializes in celebrity-approved and specially customized jewelry pieces and streetwear apparel, which has made rounds throughout the United States and all over the world. GLD came after Folger succeeded in establishing a solid network of connections in the world of celebrities and famous personalities. He then became motivated to build a legacy for himself. Eventually, he decided to pull out some money to resell jewelry with his friend, Justin.

Shortly after the shop’s launch on Instagram, they incorporated an apparel line to their lifestyle brand, flaunting streetwear fashion. Over time, the company grew exponentially, which according to Folger, was unexpected, especially within such a short period. Aside from landing an impressive headquarters in Miami, the company also has celebrities and associations such as NBA, NFL, MLB, Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly, Trae Young, Smokepurpp, and of course, Wiz Khalifa, among many others.
