ClearSight Describes the Advanced PRK Procedure for Vision Correction

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma –

ClearSight, a vision correction clinic based in Oklahoma City, OK, has recently released an article that describes the Advanced PRK procedure that they offer to their patients.

A spokesperson for ClearSight remarks, “Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA), also known as Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), is a type of refractive laser surgery that is effective in patients with thinner corneas, minor corneal irregularities, or for patients with specific occupations/hobbies such as contact sports. It has been shown to provide results that are as good as LASIK. If you wear glasses or contact lenses laser vision correction could provide the visual freedom you have been looking for. Schedule a consultation with our office to find out if PRK surgery is the right type of refractive surgery for you.”

At the start of the procedure, the vision correction surgeon puts anesthetic eye drops in the eye to ensure that the patient will feel no pain or discomfort. Next, the surgeon will gently remove the epithelial tissue covering the cornea. This is followed by a procedure that is similar to the one done for LASIK. Using an excimer laser, the surgeon reshapes the outer surface of the eye to correct the patient’s nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. After the work with the laser is done, the surgeon places a special contact lens for the protection of the cornea while the epithelium is healing.

Good candidates for the Advanced PRK procedures are patients in their 20s or 30s who want a safe and effective alternative to eyeglasses or contact lenses, and would benefit from this LASIK alternative. PRK surgery is considered to be gentle and as safe as LASIK surgery.

Advanced PRK surgery offers various benefits. First of all, it is considered to be safe for patients who are engaged in contact sports or are in active military service. Second, there is minimal removal of the body’s natural tissue. Third, it is suitable for those with thin corneas. And lastly, it allows the patient to no longer be dependent on eyeglasses or contact lenses.

The surgeons at ClearSight want to point out that laser vision correction has improved through the years, and it is now capable of addressing a broader array of vision problems and treat patients who were previously considered to be untreatable. With their three unique lasers, they are able to tailor-fit the treatment for each specific patient. When used with the most advanced diagnostic equipment and software, they are often able to use the lasers to provide patients with vision that is clearer than 20/20.

Established in 1994, ClearSight is spearheaded by a dedicated team of vision correction experts in the US. These are board certified surgeons and highly skilled medical staff who are committed to offering the best vision possible for their patients, so that they may enjoy a life that is free from wearing glasses or contact lenses. The team is made up of vision correction surgeons, Drs. Luke Rebenitsch, Kasey Brown, and Anna Edmiston, and optometrists, Drs. Stephen Fly, Stacey Rocket, and Diane Tong. Dr. Luke Rebenitsch is an international expert in vision correction surgery, particularly in LASIK and all types of vision correction surgical procedures. Dr. Luke is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has memberships in a number of international societies on vision correction. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, where she was an academic scholar, Dr. Kasey Brown earned her medical degree from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was during this time that her eyes were opened to the life-changing impact of eye surgery. Dr. Anna Edmiston obtained her medical degree from UAB in Birmingham, Alabama and then finished her ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado. She joined ClearSight as a fellow in refractive surgery after completing her fellowship in Illnois.
