Aviva surveyed 2,000 people. Nearly three quarters of social media users said they felt annoyed when they see people posting their vacation photos online. Apparently the most annoying photo to users is “hotdog legs on the beach”.
As for the main reason people post holiday photos, it’s because they want to keep friends and family up to date. Forty-four percent of the participants gave that as their reason, but one in five admitted they post holiday photos to showoff where they area. The study also found that one in 10 users do it to make others at home feel jealous.

The top five most common photos people put up of their holidays include views from the balcony, cultural landmarks, sightseeing pics, people they’ve met while vacationing, local dogs & pets and the first cocktail.
Posting holiday photos can be dangerous
The study also pointed out that it can be dangerous to share your holiday photos while you are still on vacation. Doing so can put properties and possessions at risk by basically advertising that nobody is at the home. Geo-tagging can also make it easier for someone to find you while you are at your holiday destination.

Aviva mentioned that the best time to post and share your vacation photos online is when you’re back at home. It added that if you can’t wait, then share only with a close circle of friends and family.
