Eyestorm Moves Into Bricks And Mortar In Partnership With Saatchi Gallery

LONDON, UK — eyestorm, the internet-based company which sells limited-edition works by world famous artists is moving into offline sales in partnership with The Saatchi Gallery.
Limited-edition works are being commissioned by selected artists and
these will be housed in a new extension at The Saatchi Gallery at
Boundary Road, London (opening in Spring 2001) as well as on a micro-
site at http://www.eyestorm.com called The Saatchi Gallery eyestorm
Collection.

This project will enable a significant number of British and
international artists to offer high-quality, affordable work for sale
through the website and the new retail space. Full details of these
works and others will be revealed at a later date. eyestorm recently
opened a retail site in Paris, and there are plans to open spaces in New
York and San Francisco over the next year.

Don Smith, CEO of eyestorm, said: “eyestorm has a successful online business and the obvious next step for us, in terms of growing our business, was to have bricks and mortar operations in our key international markets. In the UK, we have joined forces with the leading authority on contemporary art, The Saatchi Gallery. This venture gives us a highly visible partner in our first UK retail site and access to more well-known artists who we would like to work with at eyestorm.”

eyestorm is dedicated to opening up the world of contemporary art to a global audience, working with acclaimed artists including Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and David Hockney to offer exclusive limited-edition prints at affordable prices.

The Saatchi Gallery was founded in 1985 by Charles Saatchi to show work
from a collection of contemporary art that comprises over 2000
paintings, sculptures and installations. Its aim is to introduce new art
to a wider audience. The gallery has an international programme focusing
on young British artists, and has featured an explosion of exciting and
innovative work by Jake and Dinos Chapman, Damien Hirst, Gary Hume,
Sarah Lucas, Jenny Saville, Rachel Whiteread and many other artists who
have gone on to receive international acclaim.

Nigel Hurst, Associate Director of The Saatchi Gallery said: “eyestorm
has pioneered the online art market, and showcases some of the world’s
most talented artists. The Saatchi Gallery eyestorm Collection, will
enable artists who we admire and work with to widen their audience
through eyestorm’s website and through the new retail space.”
