The actors played a game commonly found in past SNL episodes, where one improv player finishes another’s sentence. When Wiig and Ferrell took the Golden Globes stage to present the Best Actress Award, they pretended to be clueless about the nominated films.
On Judi Dench, nominated for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, they riffed about a scene where she rides into town on a tractor, and Wiig said, “In that one scene…” and Ferrell returned, “She looked at the townspeople.” And they both begin, “And she says, she says ‘You get out of here!'” They finished the line together, seemingly an unwritten script.
They ribbed actors several times. Ferrell said, “Judi Dench, where did she come from? An unknown, used to be a police officer.”
Ferrell also called Jennifer Lawrence J-Law, and made up a scene of salmon jumping out of waters when discussing Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
This type of improv game was on display again last week, when SNL alumni Fred Armisen and Jimmy Fallon riffed on a pretend theme of playing in bands together.
Video of the improv fun at the Golden Globes has already been posted online.
Lawrence, starring in Silver Linings Playbook, won the award.
