T. Rex is headed to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020

T. Rex is credited for being a “rock and roll comet,” which graced earth and left behind a new rock style that inspired generations of musicians.

They have been eligible since 1993 and this marked their first-ever career nomination for the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The inductees include the late band members Marc Bolan, Steve Currie, and Mickey Finn, as well as drummer Bill Legend, who is the sole surviving member of the T. Rex line-up from the early ’70s.

Their landmark album, Ride a White Swan, which was released in October of 1970, is hailed as the “musical herald that led to the birth of the glam rock genre”; moreover, T. Rex also enhanced the glam rock look, as well as the punk rock movement.

T. Rex will be joining Whitney Houston, Notorious B.I.G., Doobie Brothers, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 induction ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will take place on May 2 at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
