Canadian actor Stephen Huszar chatted about his new movie “Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance” and the digital age.
In this new original Hallmark film, Heather Lawrence (played by Ashley Newbrough) is an avalanche forecasting expert who brings her new technology to Glacier National Park where she faces push-back from Chris Parker (Stephen Huszar), the Director of Mountain Rescue who is trained in intuition and common sense.
The movie was directed by Christie Will, and the screenplay was written by Keith Hemstreet. “It was fantastic and I had the most fun making this movie since I was outside skiing and being in nature. This is what I love to do and what I am passionate about. I grew up skiing and I grew up in the outdoors so it was a natural performance,” he said.
Huszar had great words about working with director Christie Will. “This is my first movie with Christie and it certainly won’t be my last with her,” he said. “Christie is a fantastic woman, she is so talented at what she does. She has such a great eye for filmmaking and she is a genius. She is able to execute something so special. I have been really blessed and grateful to work with her.”
“This movie is an interesting story about acceptance with two people that have the same goal of saving lives and also coming to terms with having different ways of approaching the same goal. Of course, we have beautiful scenery in this story and a thrilling storyline. It is about accepting the other person’s point of view in the most beautiful setting there is,” he added.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, Huszar said, “It is surprising how quick our product gets out the door, that’s one of the most amazing things. The feedback we get from the audience is fantastic, so we pretty much know right away how we are doing.”
“The audience likes to be involved a lot more than before, they want to have a dialogue with us, the actors and filmmakers, and we don’t mind doing that, especially in projects that we appreciate and are grateful for. I think it’s a more interactive experience in general. It makes things certainly interesting,” he elaborated.
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Huszar said, “Renaissance.” “I am rediscovering my love for my art and I am seeing new ways that I can bring this beautiful art form of storytelling to the world,” he said.
Clayton James
Huszar had positive words about fellow Canadian actor Clayton James. “I first met Clayton James when we did the ‘Ruby Herring Mystery’ series together. Clayton is such a great guy and I am so glad for his success. I would love to work with him again,” he said.
Success
On his definition of success, he said, “Success in my mind is personal happiness. If I can be happy every day and in the moment when I wake up until I go to bed, then in my mind, I am successful.”
