The song Bad Blood stems from Swift’s feud with fellow pop star Katy Perry. Even though she never mentions Perry by name, she leaves several clues referencing their falling out. However, the video was so much more than that.
The video, which debuted on May 17 at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, starts off like a Sin City montage with Selena Gomez (a.k.a Arsyn), who is seen stabbing Swift (a.k.a. Catastrophe) in the back and pushing her out the window. Swift then spends the rest of the video training for revenge, more like facing off in mini battles with her friends Lily Aldridge (a.k.a. Frostbyte), Karlie Kloss (a.k.a. Knockout) and several others. Even Jessica Alba, Lena Dunham and Ellen Pompeo make an appearance. At the end of the video, the girls are seen walking across an abandoned city with a flaming backdrop as they go take on Swift’s enemy, Arsyn.
Swift goes through several costume changes throughout the video and even dyes her hair red to show off her kick butt attitude. She reinvents herself as a dominating force in this video, and in a way, it resembles her total domination on the music charts and in the entertainment industry overall. She is a force to be reckoned with and whoever goes up against her better watch out because they will most likely lose the battle.
