Review: James Maslow covers 5 Seconds of Summer, watch this version (Includes first-hand account)

Future Sunsets has a calming tone to his voice, as he accompanies himself on acoustic guitar. James Maslow is exceptional on piano, and the control he maintains over his velvet vocals is exceptional. Both artists are able to bring this song to life, as their voices blend well together, thus producing one true vocal event.

The Verdict

Overall, James Maslow and Future Sunsets have done a killer job covering “Youngblood” by 5 Seconds of Summer. Both musicians have made this song their own; moreover, this rendition is a masterclass of how a good acoustic cover should be done. Maslow and Future Sunsets earn an A rating for “Youngblood.”

Aside from this new cover on YouTube, James Maslow also has a new single entitled “All Day,” featuring Dominique, out on iTunes, and on Spotify.
