Review: Imagine Dragons spectacular at the Barclays Center in New York (Includes first-hand account)

This concert stop was a part of their “Evolve” tour. They kicked off their set with “I Don’t Know Why,” which was met with a raucous response from the Brooklyn crowd. They immediately broke into “It’s Time,” where everybody was reciting the lyrics verbatim.

Two of the highlight performances of the first half of the show, included “Yesterday,” where yellow lights dimmed from the stage, as well as “Demons,” the latter of which was sheer perfection. All of the fans lit up the venue with their cell phones during “Demons,” which was a beautiful sight.

Imagine Dragons tipped their hats to Tom Petty by singing “I Won’t Back Down” in a moving, acoustic fashion that was subtle and delicate. Equally charming was their rendition of “Bleeding Out” and “Dream,” which the Barclays Center audience picked over “Amsterdam.”

After an unflinching performance of “Thunder,” they continued with the vivacious and infectious “I Bet My Life,” which was well-received by all. They had the audience hopping along with them on “Believer,” as green laser lights dimmed from the stage. They closed with “Walking the Wire” and their signature, Grammy-winning tune “Radioactive,” which was a percussion masterpiece, that earned them a huge standing ovation in the end.

The Verdict

Overall, Imagine Dragons had the Barclay Center in the palm of their hands. Their concert was upbeat and fun, and their production was creative and brilliant. Dan Reynolds’ voice is an eighth world wonder. The rock band commanded the stage for the entire duration of their lengthy set. Their live show at the Barclays Center earned an A rating. Well done guys.
