“God Bless the Broken Road” is a poignant film that premiered on UPtv on March 19.
The synopsis is: While grieving the loss of her husband, a financially struggling widow meets a race car driver.
Amber (Lindsay Pulsipher) loses her husband in Afghanistan and struggles to raise their young daughter in his absence. The film combines elements of faith, country music, and stock-car racing while paying tribute to those who serve in the United States military.
The tagline is quite inspirational: “When all is lost, hope can lead you home.” It is a constant reminder that no matter where life takes you, faith can take you further.
The movie was directed by Harold Cronk, and the cast is memorable. Lindsay Pulsipher will break your heart in the beginning, as the viewer is sympathetic over her loss and the fiscal trials and tribulations she goes through, but towards the end, she will make the audience cry for joy in a more positive and refreshing manner. Pulsipher also showcases her crystalline voice when she sings the actual song “God Bless the Broken Road.”
Hallmark star Andrew Walker is a triumph as the charming Cody Jackson, and he has good chemistry with Lindsay Pulsipher.
Robin Givens and Jordin Sparks both serve as the voice of reason in their roles as Karena and Bridgette respectively. Emmy winner Kim Delaney (“NYPD Blue”) delivers as Patti Hill, and Emmy winner Patrika Darbo also makes a neat cameo as Rosie.
The Verdict
Overall, “God Bless the Broken Road” is worth checking out. It is filled with optimism, heart, and faith; moreover, it garners two thumbs up.
