The director of The Dark Knight wouldn’t say who would be the main villain battling Batman in the new film but he told the L.A. Times, “It won’t be the Riddler.” He also said Mr. Freeze wouldn’t be the villain in Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan also said, “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” without adding further detail.
The film will be released in 2012 but Nolan couldn’t confirm a specific date.
Nolan mentioned the movie will resist the 3D craze and instead use high definition and IMAX cameras.
The last release from the Batman franchise, 2008’s The Dark Knight co-starring the late Heath Ledger, is the seventh highest-grossing film of all time.
Nolan, 40, last directed the box-office hit Inception.
