Her stage was elaborate and glamorous, and McBride instantly put her dedicated fans and listeners in the holiday spirit by singing a wide range of Christmas classics. McBride interacted well with the Biloxi audience, all of which loved her in return, and treated her like true music royalty.
“Let It Snow,” “Silver Bells” and “Winder Wonderland” were upbeat and a great deal of fun, as the crowd sang along. “White Christmas” and “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” were warm, tender and heartfelt. Her version of “Silent Night” was calming, soothing and simply ethereal. The powerhouse vocals of the night included “O Come All Ye Faithful,” featuring her crystalline soprano register, as well as “O Holy Night,” which was sheer perfection, and a vocal masterpiece in every way, shape and form.
Ever gracious, McBride expressed her gratitude to everybody for coming, and blew them a kiss at the end of her show, where the fans only wanted to hear more.
The Verdict
Overall, Martina McBride emerged as the contemporary “Queen of Country Christmas.” Her Christmas vocals were heavenly, timeless and nostalgic. She proves that she only gets better with age and experience, and she possessed the voice of an angel. The Beau Rivage Theatre was intimate and a breathtakingly beautiful venue, with great southern hospitality from all, thus making it the ideal place for McBride to kick off her “Joy of Christmas” tour. Her Christmas show is highly recommended for the entire family. She earned an A+ rating for a flawless live performance.
