Review: Ada Vox and Patti LaBelle steal Idol finale with ‘Lady Marmalade’ (Includes first-hand account)

They gave an electrifying live rendition of “Lady Marmalade” that simply stole the show. Drag queen Ada Vox sang the opening verses, and then brought Patti LaBelle on stage. “Are you ready?” she asked. “Ladies and gentlemen, Ms. Patti LaBelle,” she exclaimed, and the crowd went nuts, as they knew they were in the presence of a living music legend.

Equally impressive was Ada Vox’s duet with Lea Michele, where they performed “Defying Gravity” from the hit musical Wicked together.

The Verdict

Overall, Ada Vox and Patti LaBelle did a phenomenal job on the R&B/soul classic “Lady Marmalade.” While Vox did not win the American Idol singing competition (she made the Top 10), her future in the music industry should be very bright and promising, especially for a prospective future on Broadway (should she choose to go that route). Vox’s collaboration with soul queen LaBelle garnered an A rating.
