Movie news: ‘Furious 8’ is on and a mutiny on Adam Sandler’s set

So, let us take a look at some.

Right off the bat, let it be known that, yes, there will be another in the “Fast and Furious” series. There was no way “Furious 7” was going to be the end of the story. Sure, it had a tag line that said “One Last Ride,” but it was misleading.

Universal announced that “Furious 8” will be released on April 14, 2017. Paul Walker’s death aside, it was always going to ride again.

Meanwhile, at Digital Journal, it was reported here that “Iron Man” walked away from an interview promoting “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” That would be Robert Downey Jr.

Meanwhile, between Downey Jr. walking out of an interview to Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans offering up an apology for some “offensive” jokes. If someone says something it will get noticed in a big way. Or, if one does not like something asked, simply walk away. Either way, it makes news and can help ignite the box office.

Renner and Evans were obviously joking about a fictional character in “Avengers” but did backtrack on comments they made on a press junket. These junkets are often interview and interview and, at times, can be a bit tedious. With social media, a joke can spark outcry and more.

But, news of offensive matters also hit the set of the new Adam Sandler movie titled “The Ridiculous Six.” Media outlets are reporting that Native-Americans have left the set due to offensive content in the film. It is a satire of the film “The Magnificent Seven,” however.

USA Today reported that actor Loren Anthony and others quit the production after producers ignored their concerns. So, for Sandler, who usually offends his audience after a movie opens, now does so with the cast before it is done being filmed. Sandler is a familiar name when The Razzies are announced.

Indian Country Today also noted it. See that story here.

Finally, the dates for the next “Fifty Shades” films have been released. It was recently noted that E.L. James’ husband would pen the next film, providing he can stay out of the cuffs long enough. OK, now that was not needed. Anyway, “Fifty Shades Darker” will be released Feb. 10, 2017, while “Fifty Shades Freed” will hit theaters Feb. 9, 2018.

* Officially, the Hollywood movie summer season runs from the first Friday in May through Labor Day weekend.
