Nicholas Alexander Chavez of “General Hospital” is the 2022 Emmy winner for “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series.” He chatted about his coveted Emmy win for his portrayal of Spencer Cassadine.
“Oh my gosh, that felt incredible,” he exclaimed. “My blood was pumping. I was sitting next to William Lipton and Sydney Mikayla and that was incredible. I was so happy that my family was there. I got to stand up and give everyone big hugs. It was a fantastic time.”
“The whole family was very emotional and happy for me. We hung out and we got to enjoy each other’s company,” he added.
He is also excited about the Samantha’s Friends fundraiser on October 8 and 9, which benefits the Southeastern Guide Dogs. “I am definitely going to that. It is going to be fun. I get to see the dogs and it will be a great time,” he said.
Chavez opened up about the greatest lesson that the acting profession has taught him. “To stay present and take the moments as they come,” he said.
He lives by the following mottos: “honesty is the best policy,” “family first,” “you should stand up for what you believe in” and “never compare yourself to others, you should only compare yourself to who you were yesterday and constantly try to improve that.”
He also posted the poem “Desiderata” on his Instagram page, which is his favorite poem. “I think about that poem quite a bit,” he said.
In an effort to unwind and relax, Chavez revealed that he has been watching a lot of “Seinfeld” lately. “I like watching really comforting shows at the end of the day,” he said.
