Emmy award-winning actor Maurice Benard (“General Hospital”) participated in a virtual fan event on October 10, which was produced by Coastal Entertainment.
He opened up about his MB “State of Mind” mental health podcast, which has been making a positive impact on people’s lives during these trying times. “State of Mind is really kicking butt,” he admitted. “I love what I am doing now, it’s fantastic.”
“I am an open book and ultimately, it helps people,” he said about his podcast. “I want the fans to get out of ‘State of Mind’ what they are already getting. I read the comments and they are breathtakingly moving to me. The feedback has been just amazing, and the pandemic has opened up all avenues. To me, it was all meant to be.”
“People ask me ‘why do you talk about mental health? I just want to help people not go through the pain that I’ve gone through, and the responses have been amazing,” he added.
Speaking of his podcast, his most recent episode was released today. It features Melvis Robert, the co-anchor of “Your Morning on Spectrum News 1” and host of the series “The SoCal Scene.”
“I have the greatest fans, and the most loyal fans,” he acknowledged. “I take a lot of value in their feedback. You guys have not proven me wrong yet.”
Benard praised his co-stars Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright for being “amazing actresses.”
His son Joshua “JJ” Benard made a cameo in the Zoom, where he performed a snippet of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes off You.”
Also, actress Vanessa Marcil hopped in to say a quick “hello” to Benard and the fans.
