On Sunday, June 6, actors Jordi Vilasuso and Melissa Claire Egan of “The Young and The Restless” participated in a virtual fan event, which was produced by Coastal Entertainment. Digital Journal has the scoop.
They opened up about being a part of the upcoming “All My Children” virtual reunion that will take place on August 1, which will benefit such charities as Contractors for Kids and Tunnel to Towers in John Callahan’s name, a late cast member that passed away suddenly last year. “I am so looking forward to that event,” Egan admitted.
“We both, unfortunately, never got to meet John Callahan,” Egan said. I knew his acting work well, and I just loved him and Eva (Maria). I also got his dressing room when I joined ‘All My Children’ but I never got to meet him, which is so upsetting. John was such an incredible man and an incredible actor. I was such a huge fan so I very happy to support anything that he supported, and to be reunited with this ‘All My Children’ family.”
“I echo those sentiments wholeheartedly,” Vilasuso said. “I am just happy to see all of those faces that I haven’t seen in a while such as Walt Willey, Vincent Irizarry, and Jacob Young. It is going to be cool to link up with all of these people that we’ve had these old frienships with.”
“It will be a family reunion for sure,” Egan added. “We are really excited and they are for such great causes.”
On their career-defining moments, Vilasuso revealed that screen tests played an important role in molding him as an actor. “When you get those challenges and you execute, for me, those are bigger than any trophy you can get,” Vilasuso said.
For Egan, booking her roles on “All My Children” and “The Young and The Restless” were both career-defining moments. “In ‘All My Children,’ I’ve met some of my closest friends in my life and that role changed my life. Getting ‘The Young and The Restless’ too was such a gift. Also, getting all of these storylines, you are so grateful for the writers that write for you. Those are some of the moments that helped define me in my career. You just hope that you do work that people like and that people are proud of.”
