Actor Jacob Buster chatted about starring in the new TV series “Let The Right One In” and being a part of the digital age.

How did it feel to be a part of “Let The Right One In”?

First of all, as I get older, it is not lost on me what a blessing it is to have consistent work as an actor. I was grateful to get to play one character for many episodes and grow with him. Secondly, this show holds a particular place for me as it was my first project as an adult.

I turned 18 and two months later moved to New York to film “Let The Right One In.” It was a shock in many ways to move out on my own for the first time and move to New York from Utah. But, the people around me were amazing, like family. I really felt the love and support of the incredible cast and crew of “Let The Right One In.”

What do you love most about your character?

I love that even though Peter is a vampire, he still feels like a human. I love his sense of humor and his ability to see the light in times of darkness.

What inspires you each day as an actor?

Since I was very young, I have felt deep and powerful emotions. I connect with people and situations deeply. Acting gives me an outlet for those emotions, a way to express myself.

I get to dive deeper into my own emotions and even explore those that are new to me. I also have a love for storytelling. I’m really inspired when I get to be a part of telling a story that is meaningful and layered and human. I’m very lucky that this show has all of these.

How does it feel to be an actor in the digital age? (now with streaming and technology being so prevalent)

In some ways, it’s really nice because I can be so connected to other people’s thoughts and reactions to projects I’m a part of.  It’s nice to feel that real-time pulse and have a personal connection.

It’s a double-edged sword though and I’m learning to not read everything or take anything personally. As I said, I feel things deeply, so this part continues to have a learning curve for me.

Which actors would you like to someday work with as your dream acting partners?

I love Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. They inspire me to find deeper levels in my art. I just think they are both amazingly talented, deep, committed, and humble. I’d love to meet and work with both of them.

What does the word success mean to you?

I’m trying to see success as being happy and content no matter what happens. And I know there is truth in that. But, honestly for me right now, success means getting to be a part of stories that move me. It also means possibly being able to one day create stories of my own.

What would you like to tell our readers about “Let The Right One In”?

“Let the Right One In” isn’t a typical vampire show. It’s not based in a magical, otherworldly setting. It’s based on reality. Being a vampire is a disease in our world, a disease to be cured.

This reality brings up very profound questions and dilemmas about family and battling between loyalty versus morality. How far would you go to cure or save a loved one? Are strangers’ lives expendable to save your family?

This is why I’m so connected to this show… it’s the family dilemmas, the moral questions, and the deep, honest emotions.
