Rising country singer-songwriter Brittney Spencer chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about Cracker Barrel’s “Care It Forward” program. She is a mentee of the program.

‘Care It Forward’ program

On being a part of Cracker Barrel’s “Care it Forward” program, Spencer said, “Being part of Cracker Barrel’s Care It Forward program was fun! I enjoyed getting to meet Jennifer Nettles and learn more about her. It was a great day of music and conversation.”

“I was also was able to join Cracker Barrel this summer to surprise guests with free breakfast at one of their Nashville restaurants. Instead of a check, guests who dined between 7 to 8 a.m. that day were handed a note letting them know that their meal was taken care of and was encouraged to care it forward by extending small acts of kindness to others,” she said.

I think music and conversation are so important,” Spencer said. “They can be really helpful tools for showing someone that you genuinely care. That element of participating in the ‘Care It Forward made our time together really fun.’ It was such a great moment to be able to demonstrate that there’s no act of kindness too big or too small to show care,” she added.

Working with Jennifer Nettles

On working with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Spencer said, “Jennifer is just a brilliant artist in every way. So, it was eye-opening to get to see her in action for a day. I learned a lot just by watching how she conducts herself ‘on the job.’ And she’s such a great hang.”

Motivations

Regarding her daily motivations as a singer-songwriter, Spencer said, “I find my motivation by focusing on the bigger picture. I have some big dreams that require a lot of work, time, and self-awareness. Having fun doing things I love with people I love keeps me motivated as well. “

Dream duet choices

Spencer listed Dan + Shay, Megan Thee Stallion, and Adele as her dream duet choices in music.

Future plans

On her future plans, Spencer said, “My plans for the future include more new music and more touring.”

She defined the word success as follows: “To me, success means living a happy, purposeful, and intentional life.”

Spencer concluded about Cracker Barrel’s “Care it Forward” program, “Caring for others and recognizing that we’re all connected is truly a gift. We’re all better together.”

Cracker Barrel guests, employees, and community members who show care for one another are invited to share their stories and inspire others by using #CareItForward on social media.
