World-renowned songwriter Diane Warren chatted about her new track “Live on Love” with electronic superstar Armin van Buuren, and “Sweet,” her collaboration with Jon Batiste and Pentatonix.

‘Live on Love’ with Armin van Buuren

This Friday, this special project between Armin van Buuren and Diane Warren – the progressive-tinted dance record “Live on Love” (featuring My Marianne) will be available on digital service providers worldwide.

“I am so excited. This is different for me, it’s my first song with a major DJ like Armin, and the first time I’ve ever been featured,” she said. “My Marianne is an amazing singer that I am working with right now. They both loved it and it went from there. I feel that it can be a really huge hit for him.”

The euphoric love song was written by iconic Diane Warren who penned nine No. 1s and 32 Top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. She received 13 Academy Award nominations and 15 Grammy nominations and won an Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe awards.

“I love the message of this song, especially at a time when there is so much darkness. We can live on love and that’s all that we need. Love does change the world and love is what we need more about. I hope the fans love it, dance to it, and I hope it makes them feel good,” she said.

She is also looking forward to the Paloma Faith “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” duet with Teddy Swims.

‘Sweet’

Warren also opened up about “Sweet,” her collaboration with Pentatonix and Jon Batiste. “I am so excited about that too,” she said. “I love that song, I ran into Jon Batiste at last year’s Oscars, where I lost and he won, and I told him that I wrote a song that I thought would be awesome for him. Jon loved it, and it is doing really well on the AC charts.”

On being a songwriter in the digital age, Warren said, “It’s the same thing. I do what I do, whether it’s the digital age or any age. It’s all about writing a great song, that doesn’t change.”

For young and aspiring songwriters, she said, “Just be great. Work hard in whatever you do. Learn your craft and be great.”

She is thrilled about her Honorary Academy Award because this marked the first time that they give it to a songwriter. “That is pretty thrilling,” she admitted. “I am also going to keep going for a competitive Oscar as well. I have some good things this year and next year. I am not stopping on that, I would love to get that as well. Getting nominated one time or 13 times is a win. It’s not easy to get nominated for an Academy Award.”

“I get to do what I love, I am getting an honorary Oscar, and I have a great record with Armin van Buuren coming out tomorrow, and the Paloma Faith and Teddy Swims duet is coming out tomorrow as well. Teddy is a great singer, I will be working more with him as well,” she added.

On the title of the current chapter of her life, Warren said, “Just Getting Started.” “That’s the truth,” she said. “All of the moments in my career have helped define me.”

Her favorite mottos to live by include: “Work a little harder and be a little smarter” as well as “Keep your feet on the ground if you ever reach the stars.”

Some of the iconic hits that she has penned include “Because You Loved Me” which was made famous by Celine Dion, “I Was Here” by Beyonce, and “I Don’t want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, among countless others. She is an inductee of the coveted Songwriters Hall of Fame.

If she were to have any superpower, it would be her “work ethic” and “talent.”

Warren defined the word success simply as “getting to do what she loves for a living.”
