Chatting with Kim Delaney: Emmy award-winning actress

Emmy award-winning actress Kim Delaney (“General Hospital”) chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about her upcoming virtual fan event with Michael E. Knight for Coastal Entertainment on Sunday, May 16, as well as her career in the entertainment business.

Emmy award-winning actress Kim Delaney (“General Hospital”) chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about her upcoming virtual fan event with Michael E. Knight for Coastal Entertainment on Sunday, May 16, as well as her career in the entertainment business.

She plays the role of Jackie Templeton on General Hospital. “Jackie is a fabulous character. She’s strong, independent, smart and most importantly a mom. I get to interact in different storylines with amazing actors,” she said.

On May 16, she will be a part of an upcoming virtual fan event with Michael E. Knight, which is produced by Coastal Entertainment. “‘I’m very excited, this is my first. I know we’ll all have so much fun,” she exclaimed.

Delaney had nothing but the greatest remarks about working with Josh Swickard, who plays her son, Detective Harrison Chase on the show. “Josh is so sweet. He reminds me of my own son. He is beyond talented,” she said.

For young and aspiring actors, she offered the following inspiring advice: “Never give up, stay focused.”

On being an actress in the digital age (at a time when streaming and technology are so prevalent, she said, “I’m still learning lots of the technical world though acting is acting no matter where.”

When asked about her career-defining moments, Delaney responded, “My first acting job was All My Children. I’ve been so fortunate to work and learn alongside some of the best writers, producers, actors, and even crews have taught me so much.”

She opened up about winning the Primetime Emmy Award for playing Diane Russell in NYPD Blue. “Winning that Emmy was surreal. David Milch wrote me an amazing character. Also, to work with that cast, Jimmy, Dennis, Gordy, and James was magical,” she said.

On the title of the current chapter of her life, she said, “Stop Talking—Listen.”

Regarding her definition of the word success, Delaney shared, “Love, compassion, and laughter in my life.”
