South Korean boy band P1Harmony chatted about their new album and single “Back Down,” as well as their forthcoming appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

The K-pop group is comprised of members Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Soul, Intak, and Jongseob, whose ages range from 16 to 20 years old.

On the song selection approach for the new album, they said, “Even the songs that made the album didn’t get confirmed until not too long ago. With this album, in particular, we had a lot more say about what we wanted on there and what we didn’t want. We had conversations about what would fit the concepts of the album in order to express ourselves on this album.”

“Every time we release something new, we are trying to show a different side of our artistry, and hopefully, our fans will enjoy that and make this album their own. It’s important that not only we have fun with this new music but also the people that are listening as well,” they acknowledged.

“The songs that landed on the album were the ones that we felt were right, and most importantly, they were the songs that we enjoyed the most. It is definitely our personal taste, and what we want our fans to hear,” they added.

On the success of “Doom Du Doom,” they said, “We enjoyed it and it was very satisfying.”

They release catchy pop songs paired with electrifying dance choreography which has put them on the map garnering attention from such outlets as The New York Times, Vogue, Rolling Stone, TIME, Billboard, Forbes, and Teen Vogue.

Regarding their music and songwriting inspirations, they said, “Our experiences and what we have been through and what we have done.”

The video for their last single “Do It Like This” has over eight million views and they also dropped a new collab with Pink Sweat$ titled “Gotta Get Back” which follows the boy group’s millions of streams on a cover of his song “At My Worst.” The band was named “Best Rookie of the Year” at Korea’s 2021 MAMA Awards and they are just beginning.

They listed Justin Bieber, JID, Frank Ocean, and Rosalia as their dream collaboration choices in music.

For young and aspiring singer-songwriters, they said, “Just enjoy it. You need to find a song or a singer that you enjoy and it shouldn’t feel like a chore or work, it should feel genuine and intimate. You need to be able to find that love and enjoyment in the art that you are making and doing in order to be great at it. Also, have fun.”

The band members’ alternate career choices would be a “veterinarian,” a “contemporary dancer,” a “stage director,” a “gamer,” as well as work in “artist management.”

‘Back Down’

P1Harmony is slated to premiere their single “Back Down” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on November 29th on NBC. “We are very excited to be able to show ourselves and we are looking forward to performing our new song ‘Back Down.’ We are so glad to be able to do that,” they said.

On their new song “Back Down, they said, “This was the shortest amount of time between albums. This song happened very fast so everything was very effective. It happened so quickly so honestly, we don’t really remember how we came out. We prepared it during the promotions we did for ‘Doom Du Doom’.”

Regarding their definition of the word success, the band remarked, “Doing what we love to do for a living. Also, to have stability in what we are doing, which involves loving and enjoying what we are doing.”

Their music is available on Spotify and Apple Music. “We hope the fans enjoy the new music and that they have fun with it,” they concluded.
