Acclaimed actor and entrepreneur Christopher Knight chatted about the digital age, and being a part of the classic American sitcom “The Brady Bunch.”

The digital age

Knight spoke about being an actor and entrepreneur in the digital age. “It feels good,” he said. “Technology makes everything simpler. I was an early one recognizing that because it was making life simpler for me. I struggling with writing things legibly and from an organizational standpoint. I couldn’t maintain an address that was useful even though that didn’t matter when I was 15 years old. When you grow up though, it’s an interesting skill. It doesn’t surprise me that we are living in a digital age.”

“There are some downsides to it,” he admitted. “I think we have all forgotten to live without power, and when we don’t have something like that, we are all in jeopardy.”

Playing Peter Brady in ‘The Brady Bunch’

Knight was drawn to his character, “Peter Brady, in the hit TV sitcom “The Brady Bunch” for many reasons. “I played him for six years of my life, and it continues to play so I continue to play him,” he said. “It has changed over time, with new realizations over the character, the show, and its connection to an audience as a model of the American family.”

He described the popular sitcom “The Brady Bunch” as a gift that keeps on giving, and rightfully so. “I do know that children are universal, and they don’t tie into geopolitical issues,” he said.

“Although I have different views of it every decade, I think it’s wonderful,” he said about “The Brady Bunch.” “Clearly, the Bradys were an affirmational family on the edge of believability.”

On the key to his longevity in the entertainment business all of these decades, Knight said, “The show is still continuing to be on.” “I also keep moderately busy in the entertainment world. I am busy behind the scenes. My longevity is simply always doing what is interesting to me. I am blessed to have been a part of a show that just keeps reliving,” he said.

Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, Knight said, “Transitioning.” “I am transitioning to a less kinetic life,” he said.

No Kid Hungry

He is a big supporter of No Kid Hungry, an organization that is very dear to him. Its mission is to feed America’s kids so that no kid goes hungry. “There is no reason for kids being hungry especially if we are living in the United States,” he said. “It’s not just the kids, it’s about feeding everyone.”

Success

For Knight, the word success is a “pleasing feeling that you’ve done well.” “To push a rock up a hill and to push society forward in whatever small way you can. Also, feeling confident that you’ve made mistakes and corrected them,” he said.

For his fans and supporters, he said, “It has been an interesting adventure, an unexpected adventure. If I write a book I am going to title it ‘My Accidental Life.’ It’s about taking a step and moving, adjusting, and paying attention to that. Recognize the wake and be noticeable and aware of it. We are all interconnected and we need to take personal responsibility to be a part of that.”
