Hollywood actors Carlos PenaVega (“Big Time Rush” fame) and Alexa PenaVega (“Spy Kids”) talk about their new book “What If Love Is The Point?: Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World.”

The real-life couple just released their breakthrough memoir ” What If Love Is The Point?: Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World” via HarperCollins.

This book shares their inspiring stories of transformation. Carlos and Alexa tell-all with how they both felt lost and searched for meaning, only to realize that living for Jesus and loving others is what life is all about. “We have been working on the book for the past seven to eight years, coming up with the concept, and not really forcing it and seeing what happens,” Carlos said.

“A year ago, we got approached by our publisher, we told them about this idea we had for our book, and they loved it. We wrote it and here we are a year later,” Carlos added.

“It was definitely therapeutic to write this book because you are having a deep dive into your history and childhood. That proved to us that God is really working the whole time,” Alexa acknowledged.

“It is such an easy read too because we didn’t try to be anything that we weren’t. I am really proud of what we came up with,” Carlos added.

Despite the opportunities that they gained from their successful acting roles–Carlos on Nickelodeon’s “Big Time Rush,” and Alexa in the “Spy Kids” movies, the popular actors also faced many difficult challenges.

Carlos was struggling with the influences of Hollywood and was reeling from a broken relationship. Alexa was healing from a divorce and an eating disorder she kept hidden. This book is their shared testimony about the true joy they’ve experienced and the insights that have changed their lives.

“The hardest part about writing the book was really wanting to be very honest but also protecting the people that are in our circle growing up and in the industry. It was really about trying to find a balance to honor everybody but also be truthful,” Alexa said.

On balancing their family life and their careers, they said, “We have a rule that we are going to keep everybody together. We keep everybody really close together.”

Regarding the title of the current chapter of their lives, Alexa said, “Peace in the Chaos.” “Speed 2: Cruise Control,” Carlos admitted because they have “things lined up” and “it’s wild.”

They had great words about fellow actor and friend George Kosturos. “We love George,” the couple said. “George is fantastic, we love his family, they are the sweetest.”

If they were to write, direct, and produce their own short film, they revealed it would be on “camp” such as camp counselors.

On the greatest lesson that the entertainment world has taught them, Alexa said, “It taught us to have a good perspective on different personalities because we get to play different characters. When you get to play different characters, you suddenly understand why people do things and why they act a certain way. You can’t judge your characters, you have to dive deep and just do what they do. If anything, it has given us more grace with people.”

Regarding their definition of the word success, they said, “a family that is together and a happy marriage.”

“What If Love Is The Point?: Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World” is available on Amazon by clicking here. “The book is awesome. It’s such a heartfelt memoir and it has some learning moments in it. We wanted to write a book that taught people something through our lives,” Carlos said.
