It pays to be your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Heritage Auctions recently sold a comic featuring the first appearance of Spider-Man for $634,000.

Spider-Man made his debut in Amazing Fantasy No. 15. Peter Parker became Spider-Man when a radioactive spider bit him during a high school field trip. He has the ability to stick to walls and the proportional strength and reflexes of a spider. The majority of his stories take place while he’s a teenager. In the current comics, Peter Parker is in his mid-twenties and runs his own company called Parker Industries.

To put things in perspective, Amazing Fantasy No. 15 originally sold for 12 cents.

The seller, Walter Yakoboski, 60, originally bought the issue for $1,200 in 1980, and is planning to use the funds from the sale to buy his late father’s 17-acre vegetable farm on Long Island.

The NY Daily News reports there are 4,000 to 5,000 copies of Amazing Fantasy No. 15 in circulation.

Spider-Man has starred in five featured films, and is set to make his Marvel Cinematic debut in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War. Disney XD also airs the animated television show Ultimate Spider-Man.
