LONDON, (DJC) – APL, the global container transport and logistics provider,
is demonstrating its expanding European network and capabilities with a
high-profile shipment for the world-famous Bolshoi Ballet.
The Russian dance company has entrusted APL with the movement of all its
properties and other decorations from Moscow to the United States, in
support
of the forthcoming sold-out tour which opens in Washington, D.C., later this
month.
The contract calls for the movement of six APL 40-foot containers from
Moscow to Washington, D.C., and their eventual return to Moscow from
Los Angeles at the end of the tour. It marks a recognition that APL’s
industry-leading logistics and customer-service skills are now equally at
home
in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union as in the United States and
Asia.
“The Bolshoi Ballet is known throughout the world for its technical
excellence, absolute professionalism and meticulous attention to detail,”

tour.”
The first leg of the truly intermodal journey, after stopping at the
historic Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, was by road to St. Petersburg under the
close supervision of APL’s Russian representatives, MCT Shipping Services.
>From St. Petersburg the containers moved by feeder ship to Bremerhaven,
where
they were loaded aboard one of APL’s express North Atlantic sailings to
Norfolk, Virginia, for onward road movement to Washington, D.C.

complete circus along with its animals, groves of palm trees to the Middle
East, and even jumbo jets and a Chinese junk have traveled as some of our
more
unusual shipments. But this represents a notable achievement for our team in
Russia,” he continued, “and highlights our progress in building our network
throughout Europe and particularly in the former Soviet Union.”
The Bolshoi Ballet’s approval of APL’s performance has just been
underlined by the selection of the line as its carrier of choice for its
next
tour of North America in the summer. “APL values close, durable

to
do business with,” he added. “Nothing evidences that better than repeat
bookings.”
