Mark Sixma talks about Armin van Buuren NY show and future (Includes interview)

On performing in New York City’s Pier 94 with Armin van Buuren and Andrew Rayel, he said, “It was my U.S. debut, so I don’t think I could have wished for a better start! Sharing a stage and hanging out with Armin and Andrew is always good fun.”

During his set, he played songs by such artists as Dash Berlin and Collin McLaughlin (“Here Tonight”), as well as Above and Beyond (“Sun and Moon”), and he praised both singles. “They are both incredibly strong songs,” he said.

Regarding his future plans, he said, “I’m working on a few very exciting collaborations. The first one to be released is my track with Armin van Buuren, obviously very excited about that one! I also did a rework of a classic track and working on a new vocal tune too, between the heavy touring and studio time I’m also gonna start working on a brand new mix compilation.”

He is drawn to electronic dance music due to its “combination of melody and energy.” Each day Sixma is motivated simply by” the love for music and his fans.”

The hardest part of his job as a DJ/producer includes “waiting at airports,” but he noted that it’s a price he would gladly pay for being able to travel the world as a DJ.

While it can be rather overwhelming to play for a 10,000 people crowd, the notion of them singing along to his music, is an “amazing feeling” for Sixma.

For Sixma the word “success” is defined as “Being able to spend my life doing what I enjoy most.”

He listed Emma Hewitt and Bright Lights and his two dream female duet choices and subsequently praised them as “very good vocalists.”

For his fans, he concluded, “Thanks for all your support and helping me realize my dreams.”
