Rising CO2 affecting freshwater three times faster than saltwater

As carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere rise, more CO2 is absorbed into our oceans, making them more acidic. We know the problems this has caused in the saltwater environment. Now, rising CO2 levels are also affecting some freshwaters, too.

Milestone global carbon dioxide level reached — 410 PPM

Some records are just not meant to be broken. However, global carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere have continued their relentless climb ever since reaching 400 PPM in 2013, and now, we have actually passed the 410 PPM mark.

We have passed a grim CO2 threshold — Possibly for good

Despite the fact that September is usually the month with the lowest levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, this year may go down in the history books as being the first time September failed to register CO2 levels below the 400 ppm threshold.

Carbon emissions highest since time of the dinosaurs

A new study looks at changes in the Earth's temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide since the end of the age of the dinosaurs. It found that humans were responsible for carbon release 10 times faster than any event recorded.

CO2 levels are exploding as world tries to curb emissions

U.S. government meteorologists have reported that carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere increased at a record pace in 2015, raising concerns over one of the world's top greenhouse gases and its effects on global warming.

Sharp rise in atmospheric CO2 levels in 2012 say US Scientists

US scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have reported a sharp leap in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels in 2012.

The dashed red line with diamond symbols represents the monthly mean values, centered on the middle of each month. The black line with the square symbols represents the same, after correction for the average seasonal cycle. The latter is determined as a moving average of SEVEN adjacent seasonal cycles centered on the month to be corrected, except for the first and last THREE and one-half years of the record, where the seasonal cycle has been averaged over the first and last SEVEN years, respecti
