Cartersville - Georgia police have joined Walmart in investigating four separate incidents in recent days in which customers were pricked by hypodermic needles that were hidden inside clothing being sold at the retail giant.

Huntsville AL-Qualitest Pharmaceuticals today issued a voluntary nationwide(US) recall of all Accusure Insulin Syringes.

Heparin-filled syringes by a company called Sierra Pre-Filled have caused dozens to fall ill, with many requiring hospitalization. Heparin is a blood thinner, and used to flush out catheters and intravenous lines. Dozens are suffering blood infections.

Police in Waterloo, Ont., have arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with the discovery of syringes at a Maple Leaf Foods plant last year.
