Op-Ed: Ocean acidity causes fish to go looking for their predators

Sydney - Studies of the effects of carbonic acid, the CO2 related acid formed by carbon emissions and underwater volcanoes have shown that fish affected by the acid actually go looking for their predators.

Townsville - Scientists are finding that a species of crab indigenous to Australia and other areas of the Pacific and Indian Oceans may actually help save the Great Barrier Reef instead of destroying it.

Endangered species conservation may be helped by a new index Special

A new index, called SAFE (Species Ability to Forestall Extinction), has been developed to help conservationists better understand how close a species may be to extinction and could be used to help determine where to focus limited conservation resources.
