Op-Ed: Fix Social Security shortfall by transferring funds from defense

The new annual report from the Social Security and Medicare boards of trustees has a dire prediction for the future of Social Security. Most dire is the prediction that Social Security Disability Insurance will run out of funds by late 2016.

U.S. government paid out $600 million to dead people

Washington - The Inspector General of the Office of Personnel Management reports the federal government has paid out more then $600 million in retirement and disability benefits to deceased federal workers and the problem doesn't appear correctable in the near future.
