The official detailing of plans to build a full-scale replica Titanic that will sail a regular route, is to take place on Feb. 26 of 2013. That date was announced this month by Clive Palmer, the Australian billionaire who is building it.

The very first dinner menu from the first-class compartment of the R.M.S. Titanic was sold at auction Sunday at Henry Aldridge and Son Auctioneers in Wiltshire, England. The menu fetched 42,000 pounds, or about 72,000 U.S. dollars.

There were 1,517 people from over a dozen countries who perished in the icy waters of the North Atlantic 100 years ago on April 15, 1912 when the RMS Titanic sunk. At centenary events in N. Ireland and Canada on Sunday there were memorials to honor them.

A cruise liner, MS Balmoral is leaving Southampton docks on Sunday afternoon, retracing the route of the ill-fated RMS Titanic's maiden voyage. On board are relatives of some of those who perished in icy waters 100 years ago.
