Amazon brings one-hour delivery option to London

Amazon Prime has moved out of the U.S. for the first time. Currently, only selected postcodes in central London are covered but eventually it will be available across all of London and then in other cities too.
There are some prerequisites to check before you make your first purchase. For starters, T3 reports that every order must be worth at least £20. A delivery charge of £6.99 is then slapped on top to get the product within the hour.
However, Wired reports that a two-hour delivery option is available too. Unlike the one-hour option, there is no extra charge if you can wait an extra 60 minutes to get your hands on whatever supplies you ordered. In a Wired test of the two-hour service today, Amazon arrived with their order after 58 minutes, just within what you could also pay £6.99 to achieve.
One-hour delivery certainly isn’t cheap. On top of that cost, the service also requires an Amazon Prime subscription which costs £79.99 a year. Orders are placed through the Amazon Prime Now iOS or Android app.
The app allows users to view the location of their parcel on its route in near real-time. The name of the courier is detailed and it is also possible to tip the courier as a thanks for the quick delivery.
Prime Now launched in New York only six months ago though so it is good to see Amazon commencing a wider rollout, including to the UK. It is now present in Miami, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta and Baltimore, alongside NYC and London, and is expected to become available in more places over the next few years.
Amazon Prime customers living in London may want to note that the company is offering £20 off their first order of £50 or more. To take advantage of the promotion, enter the discount code “LONDONNOW” at the checkout.
