The main event at UFC 194, which was held in Las Vegas, was scheduled to go for five rounds. However, Conor McGregor only needed one round and a few seconds to beat the former champion.
The fight ended 13 seconds into the first round after McGregor landed a hard left to Aldo’s face. Aldo attempted to go in for a punch with his right hand, but McGregor landed with a left, which sent Aldo to the ground. Once on the ground, McGregor was able to seal the deal with two hammer punches.
This is only the second time Aldo has lost a fight, and it is the first time he has been knocked out. The last time Aldo lost a fight was back in 2005, and since then he has went on to defeat 18 opponents.
After winning the fight, McGregor said that nobody can take the left hand, and that he felt bad for Aldo. He also called him a great champion and he should have had more time. McGregor added that precision beats power every single time.
Aldo looked confused after he regained his composure, and when he was interviewed he briefly mentioned having a rematch with McGregor.
The last time McGregor lost a fight was in 2010. McGregor’s latest win marks his 15 consecutive victory, and his record is now 19-2.
