Tyson Fury banks on youth, height, reach to beat Klitschko

Fury (24-0-0, 18 KOs), who is unbeaten in 24 pro fights lacks ring experience compared to Klitshko but he is superior in height and reach. He is also 12 years younger than Klitschko.

“The difference between me and the previous challengers Klitschko (64-3-0, 53 KOs) has beaten in a row is that none of them were like me. They were pretty much all 6ft 1in, 6ft 2in heavyweights just coming forward looking to land power shots. They were average heavyweights,” Fury told Sky Sports.

“Klitschko has never fought anyone like me; a 6ft 9in switch-hitter who is as unorthodox as two left feet on a clown facing backwards,” he added.

Fury isn’t only using his physical superiority over Klitschko but he is also gaining psychological advantage with his non-stop verbal attack to get Klitschko agitated leading up to the fight.

“I think this is gonna be one of my easiest fights,” said Fury, who is betting £200,000 on himself to back up his claim that Klitschko is easy to beat. In a friendly betting, Fury’s uncle and trainer will pay him double (£400.000) if he wins against Klitschko.

Fury is getting £5 million for his title fight against Klitshcko and a chance to bag WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring Heavyweight titles at stake.

Fury stands 6’9″ with a shoulder reach of 85 inches while Klitschko stands 6’6″ with a reach of 81 inches. Both are orthodox fighters.

According to Fury, his opponent’s biggest asset is his ring experience, having fought 67 times since he turned pro in Hamburg, Germany in 1996.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for the man,” he said. “He’s done a lot in boxing and he’s been at the highest level for a long time and has made so many successful title defences, said Fury, who has only 24 pro fights to his credit.

“He’s achieved a lot and he’s done something I haven’t – he’s won a world title and defended it. He can hold onto that glory train but as long as I come out of it being the driver and the captain then it’s a different story,” he aded.

Fury aims to bag multiple heavyweight titles on Saturday as the 27-year-old boxer from Britain feels confident that he will succeed where others have failed.
